Our client requires one (1) resource to provide Services in the role of Financial Analyst (Private Debt and Loan Analyst). As a Financial Analyst, you join a highly successful team and be responsible for the review of daily transactions across our Private Investments with a particular focus on the Private Debt & Loan Portfolio. You will contribute to the financial security of Albertans by completing daily operations related to the settlement of complex private credit investment transactions. Working directly with leaders from our Private Debt & Loan area, you will develop an understanding of a variety of credit investment vehicles, take charge of ensuring that timely information is available and be part of the collaborative effort to maintain excellent service deliverables. With an interest in continuous improvement and efficiencies, you will take a lead in creating opportunities to streamline the workflow.
Responsibilities:
- Recording and processing private credit investment transactions including capital calls, distributions, income and expenses in our book of record SimCorp Dimension (SCD)
- Partnering with investment management, Treasury and Security Operations teams to assist with the investment closing through documentation review, investment setup, transaction entries and settlements
- Reviewing financial reports from external parties and ensuring timely completion and accuracy of daily reconciliations for various high volume accounts including loan, accrued interest, unfunded commitment, and bank balance
- Reviewing quarterly reporting packages provided by external managers and updating the market value of fund investments in SCD on a quarterly basis
- Collaborating with the Valuations team regarding issues related to fund investment valuation
- Preparing financial statements for private entities on a quarterly and annual basis
- Responding to questions for internal and external parties
- Preparing various quarter-end reports
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance is required
- 2+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience
- Working towards or completion of a CPA Designation
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or US GAAP
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills; ability to use various Excel functions to build spreadsheets and manipulate/analyze large datasets
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; ability to foster effective working relationships internally and externally
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on information presented
