On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a Senior Project Manager to help with their IT Managed Service Provider transition and Operational Support.
Responsibilities:
• Vendor Transition Support (Primary Focus for role)
o Oversee the end-to-end transition of MSP and MSSP services, including Managed Security Services.
o Develop and execute a detailed transition plan with clear objectives and timelines.
o Conduct audits and assessments of existing services, systems, and vendor performance.
o Coordinate a structured knowledge transfer between outgoing and incoming vendors.
o Address and resolve any transition-related challenges promptly to minimize operational impact.
• More specifically, the Contractor will be responsible for: Service and Infrastructure Integration
o Oversee the setup and migration of services, including IT infrastructure, user accounts, endpoint devices, and security tools.
o Validate that the new vendor’s services meet the requirements outlined in the RFP.
o Coordinate testing and acceptance phases to ensure all MSP/MSSP services are fully operational.
• Security and Risk Management
o Ensure a seamless handover of managed security services, including monitoring, incident response, and threat detection.
o Audit and transfer access credentials, ensuring no gaps in system security.
o Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement measures to meet compliance and security standards.
o Manage risks associated with the transition, including data loss, service disruption, and security breaches.
• Technology Point of Contact
o Act as the primary point of contact for all technology-related inquiries and escalations.
o Provide timely updates and reporting to leadership on IT operations and the vendor transition progress.
o Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Coordination and Communication
o Serve as the primary point of contact between the client, the incumbent vendor, and the new vendor during the transition.
o Facilitate regular status meetings, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on milestones, timelines, and responsibilities.
o Provide timely updates to the client leadership team, highlighting progress and addressing concerns.
• Documentation and Knowledge Management
o Create comprehensive documentation for the MSP/MSSP transition process.
o Ensure operational procedures, workflows, and systems documentation are up to date.
o Document lessons learned and update processes for future transitions.
• Training and Documentation
o Liaise with new MSP and coordinate training sessions for the staff on new processes, tools, and systems provided by the new vendor.
o Ensure all documentation, including playbooks, processes, and escalation paths, is updated and accessible.
• IT Operations Management Support (Non-Transition)
o Serve as the interim IT Operations Manager, providing leadership and oversight for all IT operations.
o Ensure the stability, reliability, and security of the IT systems.
o Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.
o Manage the IT service desk to provide exceptional support to internal staff.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in IT project management, vendor transitions, or MSP/MSSP operations.
• Proven track record in managing transitions involving outsourced IT and cybersecurity services.
• Expertise in IT infrastructure, network systems, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Strong understanding of MSP and MSSP service models, including endpoint management, SLA adherence, and security operations (e.g., MDR, XDR).
• Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOC 2, GDPR, or ISO 27001.
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in nonprofit organizations is a plus.
• Experience working with third-party MSSP providers such as Arctic Wolf, Sophos, Crowdstrike.
• Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or CISM.
