On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is looking for a Product Owner to join the Innovation team and should be able to conduct problem discovery and ideation workshops, manage and prioritize the product backlog, translate the product managers' strategies to development tasks, and levering user research principles to learn & validate end-user requirements - ultimately, supporting definition and delivery of products that have a cross-divisional impact.


Responsibilities:

• Apply strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to effectively align and execute initiatives with broader organizational priorities and goals.

• Manage a large, complex portfolio of innovative opportunities that span across divisions within the organization.

• Engage stakeholders by building solid relationships through continuous and effective communication.

• Monitoring and evaluating progress at each stage of the innovation, and product management lifecycle.

• Liaising with the key stakeholders, product team, and end-users to deliver updates.

• Validate the requirements to ensure they meet the desired outcome/benefit.

• Creates options, through team collaboration, to remove impediments that may be blocking the teams' progress.

• Performs problem discovery, and user research, analyzes user needs, and aligns with desired business outcomes.

• Understands cross-functional team capacity to influence commitments based on knowledge of team velocity.

• Participates in team and effort activities as needed such as: backlog grooming, sprint planning and team retrospectives. This includes working with the Scrum Master, the Business Engineer, the DevOps team, and the community of engineers.

• Acts as a core member of the Innovation Team and key contributor and subject matter expert

• Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement around process, technology, and people.


Deliverables:

• Create product backlogs that transposes business requirements and non-functional requirements into unambiguous user stories and acceptance criteria for delivery teams to build product.

• Plan, create and facilitate problem discovery and ideation workshops with multiple key stakeholders and end-user groups. Synthesize outcome of workshops and share back with key insights to derive next steps in product lifecycle.

• Creates problem statements, business process flows, product requirements documents and roadmaps to articulate product strategy to move opportunity forward.


Qualifications:

• Candidate must have a recognized University Degree

• 3+ years working experience as a Experience/Service Designer, Business Analyst or Product Owner, which includes 2 years experience working with cross functional teams using Agile practices to deliver products to market

• Must have experience designing, planning and facilitating problem discovery and ideation workshops in group settings

• Preferred Product Owner: Experience with customer experience and service design principles, Certification as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), SAFe Product Manager / Product Owner (PMPO), IEEE Computer Society Scrum Product Owner Certification, Agile Certified Professional (ACP) or similar.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered


Hourly rate: $65 - $75 per hour.
